Fishing Central Florida

Who would have thought that central Florida is a fabulous fishing destination?  The Orlando area is home to many stocked lakes, rivers, and streams.  There are plenty of fishing excursions available and best of all there are NO closed seasons.

Clermont Chain of Lakes

The Clermont Chain of Lakes stretches over eleven lakes in Clermont, west of Orlando. Locals find these lakes to have great fishing, beautiful views, and spectacular sunsets. All the lakes are Fish Management Areas.

The three largest lakes are Minnehaha (2298 acres), Louisa (3634 acres) and Minneola (1888 acres).  They are the main part of the chain. For those preferring to fish from shore, there is a fishing pier on Lake Minneola.

Along the main chain, there are smaller lakes that connect them.  They are Crescent, Winona, and Dixie Lake.

Further north and located in the town of Groveland, are Lake Lucy and Lake Emma.

 Lake Tohopekaliga (Osceola County):

Lake Tohopekaliga, known as Lake Toho, is located southeast of the city of Kissimmee. This is an 18,810-acre lake with several boat ramps located around the lake. Both pier and bank fishing are permitted.

Conway Chain of Lakes

The Conway Chain of Lakes consists of four lakes that are all interconnected.  It is well known for its schooling bass making it desirable for year-round fishing. They are located southeast of Orlando.
