Who Really Uses Disney’s Memory Maker and How Does It Work?

Spread the love

Yup, that’s right, I have never ever used Disney’s Memory Maker.

I am a bit of a skeptic by nature so normally avoid, at all cost, participating in a program that at first glance would seem to me to be a money making cooperate gimmick.  Since I began researching it for this article, I have been reconsidering using it.   Use these tips make the most of your Memory Maker experience.

Disney Memory Maker

What is the Disney Memory Maker?

Memory Maker is a Disney photo package that allows you to have pictures taken by Disney photographers in the parks.  You can also use it for the ride pictures as well.  If you purchase your Memory Maker before leaving home you will save $30 as compared to purchasing it in the parks. You pay one price for a number of unlimited photos. When you finish going to the parks you have about 45 days to download all the digital photos of your visit.

Once you purchase your Memory Maker, link it to your Magic Band and save lots of time and frustration.  If you don’t link it, you will need to pull out your card every time a photographer takes your picture or at the end of the photo rides.  The technology in your Magic Band allows your photos to be automatically linked to your Memory Maker account even on the rides.

Be sure to use Memory Maker as often as possible. Take the time to stop for photos.

Meet and Greets

Character Meet and Greets can make some of the best family photos.  Make the time to attend a meet and greet with your favorite character.  Using the photos as a Christmas or postcard is an excellent idea.   Consider making it a family tradition to have your photos done year after year with the same character.

Having a family photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle not your thing? Think outside of the box and consider out-of-the-way spots such as Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, and  Expedition Everest.  These places can make for excellent photo opportunities.

Have some fun on these rides and plan your photo.  Maybe you want to act bored, or pretend to be sleeping!

Lastly, remember to stop at the same photo location several times.  You may find that there’s a completely different look to photos taken in front of the castle in the morning vs. at night.

This program is definitely worth the price.  Although it may seem expensive up front, if you plan on having the Disney photographers take a hand full of pictures at the parks, it may be much cheaper to use the Memory Maker.  However, you decide to make use of your Memory Maker it will create memories that last a lifetime.
